Scholarships and awards

Our students can take advantage of several scholarship and award opportunities.

NSW School Nanga Mai Awards

Bắn cá phá hũThe are an annual event organised by Aboriginal Education and Communities Directorate. The awards recognise and celebrate innovation, excellence and educational achievement in Aboriginal education in NSW public schools, school communities and department directorates.

Premier’s Spelling Bee

Bắn cá phá hũThe  is an annual competition that encourages primary school students in Years 3 to 6 to develop their spelling skills in a fun and educational way. Students are selected at school level to take part in regional finals. Regional winners then compete in the state final.

Premier’s Reading Challenge

Bắn cá phá hũThis  encourages students from Kindergarten to Year 9 to develop a love of reading and plays an important role in developing literacy.

Premier’s Debating Challenge

The  is open to students from Year 5 to 12. Teams compete in a round robin series of debates against other schools. The winners go on to compete at regional and state level to determine the eventual state champion.

Public speaking competitions

The Arts Unit offers  for NSW school students. Each competition is a great opportunity for students to develop their speech-writing and presentation skills while representing their schools in a state-wide competition.

Premier’s Anzac Memorial Scholarships

The  are an opportunity to visit significant overseas sites associated with Australia’s participation in war for Years 10 and 11 students in selected schools.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Bắn cá phá hũThe  provides an internationally recognised, self-development program for people aged 14 to 25. The program equips young people with the opportunity to undertake a variety of voluntary and challenging activities.

Our strong academic framework, allows all students to engage in challenging and productive activities that develop their intellectual, critical thinking and problem solving capabilities.

Our High Performance Science Team provides opportunities for our students to extend their skills, knowledge and understanding of science through performance and demonstration of dynamic science experiments and activities for selected Year 5 students from our Community of Schools.

Year 7 Scholarship Program 2021

We are delighted to announce that in 2021 we will be offering 5 scholarships for students applying for placement into the Gifted and Talented program.   

Bắn cá phá hũThe Year 7 2021 Gifted and Talented Scholarships have the value of $955 each and the successful applicants will have automatic placement into the Gifted and Talented class. Each scholarship is for one year only (Year 7) and consists of an $955 school credit for this period. The $955 scholarship will cover the following costs:

  • All school/subject costs - $545
  • The cost of the Year 7 Camp - $350
  • Stationery Pack - $35
  • A scientific calculator - $25
  • Total = $955

We are very excited about this initiative and look forward to processing all the information and working with the Gifted and Talented Panel to determine our successful applicants. Interested families are to submit an application form to Cumberland High School by Tuesday 21st July 2020. Students will be notified of the outcome of their application by Friday 11th September 2020.
